Have you ever been hungry? If you know you are going to be able to eat some time soon, it’s not bad; our bodies are reminding us that it’s time to refuel. But, if you don’t know whether you will be able to eat at all, that’s something very different. And even worse, if you don’t know if you will be able to feed your hungry children, that’s crushing. Imagine what that must be like. We can do something to help! The CROP Hunger Walk is coming soon and we need you! We need people to walk. And we need people to sponsor our Walkers. We need each of you. And together, step by step we can make a difference in the lives of hungry people around the world.

Up to 25% of the money raised will support hunger-fighting efforts in our local community. Last year, CROP Hunger Walks provided over $4 million dollars to some 3,000 soup kitchens and food pantries across the US.

Last year, over 15 million dollars was raised to assist hungry people around the world, providing food and other essentials to those recovering from disasters, as well as tools and training to communities as they seek to establish food security for themselves in places like Guatemala, Indonesia, Haiti, Cambodia, Kenya and more.

From despair to hope. From hunger to food security. That’s the difference you make by supporting our CROP Hunger Walk. Together we’re ending hunger – one step at a time!

Please Join Us for the Spring-Ford Area CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 9, 2011! The walk will begin and end at First United Church of Christ in Spring City (145 Chestnut Street, Spring City) Registration will be held from 1:15-1:30 p.m. A special commissioning and blessing will be held at 1:30 p.m. at which time the CROP Hunger Walk will begin. Walkers will once again have the opportunity to walk 3 or 6 miles (maps will be provided) with lots of refreshment stops along the way! CROP Walker packets and information are available for pick up from First United Church of Christ in Royersford. Contact Joanne Levering (St. James UCC, Limerick) or Darlene Canning (First UCC, Royersford) the 2011 CROP Hunger Walk Coordinators.(numbers below)

In 2010, the Spring Ford Area CROP Hunger Walk had 59 participants and raised a total of $6,643.00. This year our goal is to have 80 participants and raise at least $7,500.00. In order to achieve these goals, we need your help! See if your church can get a team of walkers together this year! If you had some members from your church walk last year, see if you can double the number for this year. Maybe your youth group can form a “team” and make t-shirts for the day of the walk so they can stand out! As incentive, we will be awarding a Pizza Party to the church with the most number of participants walking this year. An Ice Cream Social will go to the church with the highest amount of donations. That’s right, the winning teams will be able to pick a date and we will come to your church.
